One of the most relevant additions to basic internet service for businesses as well as residential customers is the use of VoIP technology. VoIP or Voice over Internet Protocol allows a variety of data types to be transferred using internet systems rather than traditional phone systems. The types of technology used can include IP telephony, voice over broadband (VoBB) broadband phones and broadband telephony, each which provide both voice and multimedia types of information transmittance.
IP technology in phones is used by a variety of different types of models. For example Smartphones of any brand use a type or IP protocol known as a SIP or Session Initiated Protocol. This system uses wireless broadband signals as is available on any type of Wi-Fi enabled mobile phone. This technology is built right into the phone and is perfect for accessing emails, the internet or in processing calls between different networks and providers.
The types of hardware used with IP phone technology has really changed since the original IP phones first came on the market. Now they are just as streamlined and small as any other mobile phone. In addition facsimiles, video conferencing and conversations, data transfer and manipulation can all occur right from the phone, a bit advantage over having to use a different system for data and voice. VoIP technology will continue to enhance and expand the use of IP phones in all types of communication systems.
